Gurgaon is an ancient city, today known in common parlance as ‘Cyber City’. Prior to independence, Gurgaon like other cities had a healthy Muslim population living in several villages and towns in what constitutes Gurgaon district at present. Because of which the city is dotted with a significant number of old Masjids, Khankahs and resting places of peers & buzurgs.
In the recent past the city name has changed from Gurgaon to Gurugram. On 27 September 2016, the Union Government approved the name change proposed, and thus the city and district has come to be known as Gurugram. Even though the old name "Gurgaon" still continues to be used in everyday conversation & reference.
(The masjids have re-opened in line with the local administration directives. For specific information about namaz and social distancing requirement, please contact your local mosque.)
